Corporate events don’t need to feel, well, corporate. However, to get that WOW factor, it’s necessary to put the magic into events and always remember that ‘user first and the rest will follow’ – that is, appealing to the emotional side of your guests. And what better place to do that than in the only place in the world where two UNESCO sites meet? That alone gives some fairly decent bragging rights.

But we’re not ones to rest on our laurels here in the Port Douglas and Daintree region. Amongst our stunning natural landscapes are some exceptional venues away from the everyday. Canapes with a croc? Can do. Champagne with a goblin? No worries. Gala dinner on the very edge of the Coral Sea overlooking the sunset over the rainforest? Breathtaking. Stepping outside is easy to do here in Port Douglas and the Daintree. Let us entertain you.

GETTING WILD

Only a short hop and a flap from town, the Wildlife Habitat Port Douglas offers a literal sanctuary for any kind of event you could imagine. Breakfast with the Birds and Lunch with the Lorikeets have always been popular day time events, but what happens when the sun goes down? Imagine entering your event at dusk, the sanctuary full of wildlife, kangaroos, emus and pelicans roaming free. Be greeted with a tasty Croc-tail to start (the drink, not the… ummm… tail), play Survivor, pretend you’re Crocodile Dundee, race cane toads, cuddle koalas or get cosy with a python. Canapes and curlews or a sit-down in the Savannah – this is one event your guests are sure not to forget.

UNDER THE NIGHT SKY

You’ve seen the Instagram feeds filled with a palm tree lined coastline, overlooking the Coral Sea as the sun goes down behind the Daintree rainforest, lighting the skies with pinks and oranges. A giant fig tree dripping with fairy lights signals the park entrance, and the sound of the lapping water against the rocks paints a whimsical picture that will stay with your guests for a very long time. Rex Smeal Park is certainly an icon moment in your Port Douglas itinerary, and for very good reason. Vast enough to hold large events, smaller pockets to create a more intimate space. Perfect for breathtaking breakfast meetings, daytime activities and, of course, evening galas. Just add guests, and you have yourself an event space worth talking about.

FANCY CASUAL

Have you been wine-tasted to the point of boredom? Do you know everything there is to know about DIY blending whiskies? Can you not see another ‘masterclass’ and be totally AOK about that? Enter Hemingways Brewery Port Douglas. Standing out from the rather crowded craft brewery floor has definitely raised a bar or two, and Hemingways do exactly that. Using ingredients as pure as the sunshine - the finest Australian hops, locally sourced base malts, and of course, the purest waters from the nearby Mossman Gorge, beer never sounded so good. Match that with views over Dickson Inlet and the Crystalbrook Marina, an exceptionally catered in-house menu, an upstairs or downstairs option (depending on the event), and you’ve got yourself the very best of a space that has all class and plenty of sass.

A MAGICAL OUTDOORS

In between the canefields and the rainforest, down a secret path, past a giant fig tree and across a bridge the location only a true local knows is The Grotto. A magical spot where guests can be greeted by faeries and goblins, entertained by aerial and circus performers, and seduced by twinkling lights and chandeliers. Or perhaps a Mad Hatters Tea Party during the day, complete with croquet and lawn games, the ultimate in (mildly) non-competitive ice-breakers. Sound extraordinary? Oh, it is. Port Douglas Events & Hire have created an ethereal place, a short drive from the centre of Port Douglas. A cleared area surrounded by lush rainforest make The Grotto a blank canvas for any styled event, suitable for night and day.

RAINFOREST DREAMING

For a dining experience like nothing else Flames of the Forest would undoubtedly qualify as one of the most unique experiences in the area, if not the country. True to its name, Flames of the Forest is hidden away in a fairy tale pocket of natural beauty in the middle of a rainforest environment. The space is lit up by literally hundreds of twinkling forest lights and flame torches, and a black silk marquee adorns the setting, as does otherworldly looking crystal and bud light chandeliers. Showcasing a unique, tropical inspired menu, this legendary place transports guests into a world beyond imagination.

From casual or gala, canapés or team building activities the Port Douglas and Daintree region can cater to all your greatest event wants, limited only by imagination.
