Duration: 3 days
Delegates: 680 representing 300 businesses
Purpose of Event: Conference

Capitalising on local business events expertise, organisers of a multinational tech giant’s annual partner conference successfully operated a three-day conference and social program in Port Douglas.

Two substantial challenges confronted organisers - accommodating delegates across three hotels while ensuring they remained connected to the event, and locating a venue large enough to cater for the gala dinner of 850.

Drawing on the room stock of two properties close to the primary conference hotel, organisers developed a timetabled shuttle service operating on a loop system to transport delegates to and from the conference sessions, trade exhibition and activities throughout the day.

Embracing the regions ability to balance a thriving tourism industry with the management and conservation of two World Heritage areas, the “Nature of Business” themed conference focussed on the importance of adapting the business ecosystem to an evolving global marketplace.

The transportation of 850 guests, 15 minutes to the off-site gala dinner venue in the rainforest required precision transport logistics. Mobilising the fleet of two local coach operators enabled arrival of 180 guests per movement, five minutes apart. Delegates enjoyed an evening of social networking, abundant local produce and Australian wines, seated on long tables of 60, followed by a lineup of engaging entertainment.

Energised by the opportunity to engage with a diverse group of colleagues, the partner conference, the largest in its history, afforded delegates the chance to build and strengthen their working relationships into the future, whilst participating in an exceptionally executed conference program surrounded by the natural beauty of the tropical north.
